Another free from O’Brien levelled the game before Brendy Mackin put the Shanes ahead with a monster point from away out on the side-line. Clonmore 0-03 v Shane O'Neills 2-16

The sides were level early in the game at two points a piece with Peter O’Brien and Donal Feeley the early scorers for the Shanes. However when Brendy Mackin fisted over the Shanes third point they never looked back and went on to total dominate the game. The Shanes midfield was working brilliantly and the half-forwards were picking up a lot of break ball and the next two points came this way with Peter O’Brien and Paddy Gregory the scorers. Lee Lennon was the scorer of the next point when good vision from Micheál Brady found young Lennon who slotted the ball over. Great work from corner-back David Boyle began the move which led to the next score and Paddy Gregory getting his second point. A pointed free from Brendy Mackin saw the Shanes lead by seven at the break, 0 – 9 to 0 – 2.

The Shanes began the second-half in blistering fashion and a monster point from young Peter O’Brien put the Shanes ten points to the good. Decky McDonald got the next Shanes score when his goal bound shot was tipped over the bar by the Clonmore keeper. Brendy Mackin scored the next two Shanes points, one following a great move the length of the field with the second coming from a free. Armagh Division III - Friday 23rd April 2010
Shane O'Neills 2-16 v An Port Mór 1-02

Peter O’Brien opened the scoring for the Shanes early on with a pointed free before a good save from the An Port Mór keeper denied Decky McDonald a certain goal. Paddy Gregory got the second point of the game when a long kick-out from the Shanes keeper, Eric Casey, was well fielded and played forward quickly allowing Gregory to slot the ball over. A Neil Paul Lennon free put the Shanes three up but the sides were soon level when an uncharacteristic mistake in the Shanes defence allowed An Port Mór in for a goal. A pointed free from the visitors saw them take lead but this proved to be short lived as Paddy Gregory got his fist to a long ball to flick it over the bar and bring the Shanes level. The home side hit the front again soon after when Peter O’Brien collected the ball wide on the left before travelling forward and driving the ball over the bar. The Shanes registered their first goal of the game, and indeed of the season, from the penalty spotwhen Decky McDonald was upended by the An Port Mór keeper and Raymie Fitzpatrick coolly dispatched the resulting penalty to the back of the net. With the half almost over Neil Paul Lennon chalked up his second point of the game when he collected a ball from his younger brother Lee before turning and putting the ball over with his left foot to give the Shanes a five point lead at the interval.

An early free from Neil Paul Lennon at the beginning of the second-half was quickly followed by the home side’ second goal. A long ball from midfielder James Lennon was palmed down by the An Port Mór right into the path of the in rushing Lee Lennon and he made no mistake from close range. By this stage the Shanes were playing with great confidence and this was underlined with a great point from Peter O’Brien and another from Paddy Gregory who managed to squeeze the ball over the bar from a ridiculously tight angle. A rare forage by An Port Mór into the Shanes half resulted in them getting their third and ultimately final score of the game with a point from a free. Neil Paul Lennon quickly cancelled this out with his fourth point of the game before the same player tagged on another point, this time from a free after his brother Lee was fouled as he bore down on goal. A point from Paddy Gregory pushed the Shanes lead out to thirteen points beforeanother free from Neil Paul Lennon kept the score-board ticking over. By this stage the result was completely beyond doubt but the Shanes kept driving on and Lee Lennon registered another great point following some good work by Conor O’Neill, another talented young player who was making his senior debut on Friday evening. With time almost up the Shanes managed to tag on another two points, one from Pete O’Brien who cut in front the left-hand side before fisting the ball over the bar with final score coming from the boot of second-half substitute Donal Feeley to leave the final score Shane O’Neills 2 – 16 An Port Mór 1 - 2.

Neil Paul Lennon got the ball rolling for the Shanes in the opening the minutes with a lovely right footed point before Raymie Fitzpatrick followed with a great point with the outside of the boot. The Shanes started the game in great fashion and weren’t allowing their opponents any time on ball and their next point came from some great hassling from Kieran Murphy which resulted in a Shanes free which Paddy Gregory dispatched over the bar from away out on the side-line. Another Shanes free resulted in Raymie Fitzpatrick finding Lee Lennon who turned and put the bar over the bar to the Camlough side four points in front. Annaghmore reduced the lead with two quick points, one from a free, before James Lennon got his side’s fifth point of the half with a great long range effort. The Shanes were dominant all over the field now and the early ball into the forward line was causing all sorts of problems for the Annaghmore defence, which resulted in themfouling their opponents and Neil Paul Lennon took full advantage when fired over two frees in a row. Annaghmore replied with a free of their own before Neil Paul Lennon scored his fourth point of the half from another free to leave the Shanes five points to the good at the break, 0 – 8 to 0 -5.

The Shanes began the second-half were they left off in the first and it was that man Lennon on the score-board again when he collected a short free and put the ball over the bar. The Annaghmore defence grew more undisciplined as the game wore on and the Shanes continued to punish them from the placed ball with Neil Paul Lennon adding a further two points and Pete O’Brien getting another one from a tight angle away out on the left. At this stage in the game the Shanes were nine points in front but Annaghmore reduced the arrears to six when they registered the only goal of the game. Following their goal the home side tried to rally and get themselves back into the game but the Shanes defence stood firm and another Lennon free put them seven ahead and young Declan McDonald increased this to eight when he put the bar over from close range following a great save from the Annaghmore keeper denying Lee Lennon a well deserved goal. Annaghmore got the lastpoint of the game but by then the Shanes had the points wrapped up and ran out deserving winners on a score-line of 0 – 14 to 1- 4.

Armagh Division III - Sunday 11th April 2010
Shane O'Neills 0-12 v Eire Og 1-06

In the opening minutes both sides were understandably a bit rusty and it took a pointed free from Peter O’Brien to get the Shanes up and running. However, the Shanes soon found themselves two points in arrears when a mix-up in their goalmouth allowed Eire Óg to scramble the ball to the net. Another two frees from Eire Óg saw them edge four points ahead but these proved to be their last scores of the half as the Shanes upped their game and took a firm grip on the match. A great left foot point from Peter O’Brien got the Shanes going before Neil Paul Lennon pointed a free to leave two between them. Paddy Gregory reduced the arrears to a single point with another well taken score before another Peter O’Brien free brought the sides level. Paddy Doran put the Shanes in front when he drove forward from his half-back berth to confidently strike the ball over the bar and Kieran Murphy added another Shanes point when he beat his man before driving theball over from a very tight angle.

Eire Óg made a great start to the second- half and soon found themselves back on level terms with two pointed frees and another free saw them wipe out their half-time deficit to lead by a point. They had a couple of chances to increase their lead but they only managed to tag on another point before a long range score from big midfielder James Lennon brought the Shanes back to within a point. This score seemed to lift the Shanes and Kieran Murphy got his second point of the game to bring the sides level once more. Having scored a monster point moments earlier, James Lennon put the Shanes in front when he was on the end of another good move to slot the ball over the bar before his younger brother, Neil Paul, put the home side further ahead when he finished off a great move which began in our own half-back line with Peter O’Brien making a great interception before surging forward to set up the score. Full forward Paddy Gregory rounded off the scoring forthe Shanes with his second point of the match to leave the final score 0 – 12 to 1 – 6 in favour of the Shanes.
