News - 15th February 2010
Seniors
Our senior team continue to gear up for the
forthcoming season with three training sessions per week –
Tuesday nights, Friday nights and Sunday mornings. A number
of challenge games will be arranged over the coming weeks
before they begin their league campaign with a home game against
Eire Óg on the 11th of April.
Minors
Our minor team had their first outing of the year with challenge
game against Dromintee in the Lumpers Field in Ravensdale
on Sunday morning. The Shanes made a slow start to the game
and found themselves four points behind at the interval, 1
– 4 to 1 – 1. However, in the second-half the
Shanes were the much better side, scoring a total of 1 –
9 to Dromintee’s solitary goal to leave the final score
2 – 10 to 2 – 4 in favour of the Camlough side.
Despite it being their first game of the season the lads put
in a good performance and one on which they can hopefully
upon. A big thanks to Dromintee for the game on Sunday and
to Jim Lynch for refereeing. Scorers for the Shanes on Sunday
were: D McCabe 1 – 2, E Murtagh 1 – 2, J Girvan
0 – 2, D Doyle 0 – 1, G Linnie 0 – 1, K
Magill 0 – 1 and R McCabe 0 – 1. Minor training
continues on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm – 9.00pm in
the old school boxing club in Camlough.

excellent and it’s great to see the young lads giving
plenty of commitment.
Under 14's
Our U14 team had their first game of the
new season with a challenge match at home to Newry Shamrocks
on Sunday morning. This proved to be a tough fixture for the
lads as the Shamrocks proved to be very tough opponents and
they ran out comfortable winners. However, the Shanes kept
plugging away right to the end and must be credited for their
effort and commitment throughout the game. Training for our
U14s continues on Thursday evenings at 7.00pm at the club.
