Seniors
Our seniors bowed out of the intermediate championship on
Sunday but not without giving first division Sarsfields the
fright of their lives. The Shanes went into the game as underdogs
but they put in a tremendous performance but unfortunately
they came up just short, losing by two points, 1- 10 to 0
– 11.
Overall the Shanes can take great heart from their performance
but will feel slightly disappointed that they didn’t
at least force replay if not win the game outright. The lads
can rightly feel very proud of the way they performed against
their first division opposition. However, they can now concentrate
completely on their relentless drive for promotion and hopefully
look forward to playing second division football next year.

Lotto Winner
Well done to Gerard McGinn (Jnr) who won the Shanes lotto
a couple of weeks ago and in doing so picked up a grand total
of £2,700.
Fundraising Night
The fundraising Hawaiian night planned for this Saturday
night, 31st July, has been postponed until mid to late August.
Further details will be provided when a definite date is known.
Apologies for any confusion caused.
Under 16 Sevens Tournament
The majority of the teams have now been confirmed the upcoming
U16s 7s tournament on Saturday 7th August and these include
Correnshigo, Ballyhegan, Newry Bosco and Saval. A family fun-day
will also be taking place on the day, with a BBQ and music
provided in the evening by the brilliant Track of the Foot.
Everyone is welcome to come along to what should be a fun
filled day at the Shanes.

Gaelic4Mums

Our Gaelic4Mums took part in the second
annual Ulster blitz on Saturday which was held at the
Saval club. Our mums took part in a total of six games,
playing against Newry Mitchells, Belleek (twice), Drumgath,
Tír na n-Óg Randalstown and Clontibret
from Monaghan.
The Shanes were represented by: Irene O’Neill,
Violet Kenny, Angela Jones, Sinead Mathers, Gwyneth
McCann, Kerrie Chambers, Fiona Mooney, Ciara Sloan and
Jenny Barr. Also a big thanks to Mike Mathers who stepped
in at the last minute to the manage the team.

strip which was kindly sponsored by McDonalds, Newry
